Character’s name: Anita Blake aka The Executioner
Fandom: Laurel K. Hamilton's Ania Blake, Vampire Hunter series

History: Anita Blake is an "animator," a necromancer with the power to control the dead, which includes vampires and zombies but not ghosts or ghouls--a natural ability which she discovered at a young age, when she accidentally raised her beloved pet from the grave, after the dog had been buried. Of mixed heritage, her mother was Mexican, and her father was German--neither of whom were animators. She received much of her early mentorship from her maternal grandmother.
Though she is human, her close involvement with both vampires and lycanthropes has lent her unusual strength, rapid healing, increased resistance to vampires' abilities--as well as other powers similar to those of vampires and lycanthropes. She also shares some of their weaknesses, which includes the need to feed her physical hunger on a regular basis in order to keep other, metaphysical hungers at bay. Metaphysical hungers such as the ardeur, a gift from Jean Claude, the master vampire of St. Louis, which makes her something of a nymphomaniac.
As a licensed vampire hunter/executioner, with the empowerment of a Federal Marshal, her profession involves the tracking and killing of vampires who have murdered humans. She is also held on retainer for the Regional Preternatural Investigation Team (RPIT, pronounced Rip-it), which investigates supernatural crimes committed involving magic, vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures. She is trained in judo, kenpo karate, and proficient with all kinds of weapons--but specializes with guns.
